3-4-11 – Remixes You Won’t Roadrage too

It’s been a busy week. I’m not sure where all the time goes. I get up every morning, I blink and twelve-thirteen hours have passed by. Add in a few moments of eating and about seven-eight hours of sleeping, and I rinse and repeat… It’s weird though, I get up early on workdays, but I get up even earlier on the weekends. I guess I cherish the time so much, I’ll sleep less on the weekends to have more leisure time. Either that or I’m sleeping too much during the week. I doubt that though.

I’ve put together some songs that help me get through the week. Spending two hours a day in a car, I can only handle so much NPR (and I love NPR), I’ve got to have something to just mellow out too. Traffic is a total bummer too, so it can’t be angry music. The music has got to be something I can lose my thoughts to without losing my mind completely. So here they are, I plan to post some more tomorrow.

I’ll start slow, work you into it. Admittedly, I’ve never heard the original by Brand New, but I’d wager this redo by The Burning Ear is better then the original.

Brand New- Daisy (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

We’ll keep that mellow vibe and continue on with some Cassette Culture. Which reminds me of some Daft Punk Legacy dank.

Cassette Culture – We Once Had An Empire (Jungle Fiction Remix)

My first twist, The Go! Team. The Go! Team is funky all by itself, but then Star Slinger went and really went to town.

The Go! Team – Apollo Throwdown (Star Slinger Remix)

Usher? Check. Tokyo Police Club? Check. The Hood Internet? Oh yes, check. Absolutely nothing could be added or removed from this track. The Hood Internet never disappoints.

The Hood Internet – Frankenpapers (Usher x Tokyo Police Club)

Speaking of never failing, The Glitch Mob, is another top producer. Again, nothing could be stripped from this. It’s like a bloody rare steak, any more processing and it’d be ruined. Any less cooking and you might as well eat it raw.

White Stripes – Seven Nation Army (The Glitch Mob Remix)

Then we got DMX + The XX, yet again by The Hood Internet. For whatever reason this reminds me of Apolo Onho and the 2010 Winter Olympics. And just like Apollo Ohno, this is an all gold performance. Genius

The Hood Internet – The XX Gon’ Give It To Ya (DMX vs The XX)

Speaking of The Hood Internet, we’ve got to The White Panda in here. Now they’ve got a ton of tracks that are some of my favorites mash-ups ever, but for whatever reason this song gets me pumped. But not too pumped to start crashing into stupid assholes driving 30mph in the left lane.

The White Panda – Throw Some Tik On That Tok (Ke$ha vs Rich Boy) (Stella Edit)

Appropriately, Klaxons with It’s Not Over Yet, unfortunately it is…

Klaxons – Its Not Over Yet (Brodinski Remix)

Enjoy and let me know your mellow tracks for traffic (in the comments below)!

Has anyone else been completely absorbed into the Winter Olympics? I’ve always loved the winter olympics, where summer sports lose my interest past the opening ceremony, the complete opposite has been true this year. The opening ceremony was totally bizarre, it was nearly a Native American version of “Westside Story”. It got weirder when they referred to the Native Americans as the “First Nations”.

We have a Canadian friend and I tried to figure out what the singular of “First Nations” would be. “First National”, maybe? “First Native” would make sense too. Nope, it would just be a “First Nation”. As is, yeah I’m a “First Nation”. Totally weird. I guess that’s what you get when your country was founded by french fur traders and you still consider the Queen of England to be your figurehead..

I have two songs below. I have not kept up with music recently, as I have been so absorbed in the games. I promise come Friday, I’ll be back to posting at least every other day!

The Hood Internet – The XX Gon’ Give It To Ya (DMX vs The XX)

The instrumental in this track is also in the Apolo Ohno Commercial with AT&T, it’s called “Intro” by The XX.

Breakbot – Baby I’m Yours (feat. Irfane)

Shameless? Yes, I am:
